Incubators For New Born Babies

Incubators For At-Risk New Born Babies.
Malawi Relief Fund UK .

Having a baby is the most special moment for parents.

The happiness and excitement is indescribable; but some mothers experience premature births or having babies with other various complications.

Such babies are nurtured in incubators under controlled conditions for their protection.

Incubators protect babies from being exposed to diseases and other risks including death.

However, a visit to some of the hospitals by Malawi Relief Fund UK revealed that some hospitals in Malawi have inadequate incubators.

The shortage of incubators means that pre-termed babies are at high-risk of dying.

In most hospitals, 2-3 babies have to share a single incubator, which puts the infants at higher risk of infection.

The hospitals have poor infrastructure and mothers sit on the cold floor while waiting for their babies. Some peeping by the windows to see if their babies will survive.

Malawi Relief Fund UK have launched an urgent Appeal to provide life-saving incubators in hospitals and reduce the risk of infant mortality.
