Supporting the Poor and Vulnerable

The objective of our Direct Support Programme (DSP) is to reduce poverty and hunger among ultra-poor households living in some of the remotest villages.

The programme forms part of our social protection strategy which also includes support for the beneficiaries through other interventions such as farming input subsidy, education support, and financial support.

The householders are provided with a pack every month including food and daily essentials and at times monetary support.

This ensures the poorest and most vulnerable are looked after.

Estimates by Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee indicates that almost two million people will face food shortage. 400,000 people have been displaced.

MRf in partnership with Gift of the Givers, Shukran orphan care has helped to reachout with vital aid to those affected essential supplies. Many of the beneficiaries had been without food for three days and desperate.

The packs costing just £20 would provide food and essential items for the families for a few weeks.
