Contribute towards our Winter Cropping Project with Farmer’s Packs

Beyond the planting period in the rainy season, the smallholder farming sector comes to a standstill. There is a need to promote sustainable, long term solutions and one way is to have more than one planting season per year. Winter Cropping Work is solution we need to embrace.

Winter Cropping is a practice of cultivating another crops in the dry season April to August taking advantage of the residual moisture within the lowland areas.

Malawi Relief Fund working with local partners such as Gift of the Givers in Malawi is launching an urgent appeal for a Winter Cropping Programme to support small holders by providing them with a “Farmer’s Pack”, containing Seed Packs which will harvest 25 bags of maize per acre, providing enough to sustain a family for the year.

Malawi Relief Fund is supporting this initiative which is part of the Government’s strategy to address food shortage and develop sustainable longer term solutions to reduce reliance on aid.
