ENT Operating Theatre Equipment Appeal

Imagine!

There is just one ENT consultant in one hospital responsible for 19 million people.

Ridiculous?

Sadly no, this is real.

Imagine!

A child. Your child perhaps, gets wax in his ears and there is no way you can get to that one ENT surgeon so the wax stays where it is, it gets infected, it makes the child ill, it then causes deafness, and now he can’t cope in school.

No education.

No job.

No way to support himself, let alone a family.

This was, and still is, the reality facing Dr Wakisa Mulwafu in Malawi. He had to do something to help, and amazingly, he built an ENT unit at Queen Elizabeth’s Central Hospital in Blantyre.

He started training clinical officers in help and diagnose and treat ear, nose and throat conditions in the villages.

And we’re helping him train and equip these officers, and, if their patients need a life-saving or urgent operation, Dr Wakisa Mulwafu has built a ward and two operating rooms.

And this is where we need your help because however excellent the surgeon, and however many colleagues want to help, a theatre room is no use without equipment.

So, if you’re in position to make donation towards providing the most urgently needed equipment, you will be helping to save lives and improve the future for thousands of patients in Malawi.

Thank you so much for reading.
