Malawi Relief Fund Releases Annual Activity Report 2025–2026

With gratitude to The Almighty, Malawi Relief Fund UK has published its 2025–2026 Annual Activity Report, highlighting another year of transformative impact across Malawi.

In a year marked by economic hardship and widespread food insecurity—where an estimated 6.8 million people remain unable to meet their basic food needs—your generosity has delivered hope, dignity, and sustainable change.

Restoring Sight, Restoring Dignity

Through the Gift of Sight Programme, 5,650 cataract operations were delivered, alongside treatment for over 21,000 patients with other eye conditions. In partnership with Lions Eye Hospital, paediatric cataract programmes ensured children received life-changing surgery—unlocking decades of opportunity.

Healthcare Close to Home

The Shukran Clinic in Chia, Nkhotakota treated over 30,000 patients, providing vital access to care for families who would otherwise travel long and dangerous distances. Plans are now underway for an Under-5s Clinic and Maternity Unit to expand life-saving services.

Education that Breaks the Cycle

From sponsoring 150 trainee teachers, to supporting 380 scholarship students, to training 292 vocational students at Maone Technical College, education remains central to long-term community transformation.

A strong partnership with Blackburn College has also helped establish an International Nursery and develop nationally aligned Early Years qualifications—creating a lasting educational legacy.

Empowering Communities

  • 95 orphans cared for at Shukran Academy
  • 4,500 children attending maktabs
  • 205 bicycle taxis and multiple fishing boats distributed
  • 160 women trained in tailoring and entrepreneurship
  • 418 homes constructed
  • 87 water points drilled
  • 26,000 food packs distributed

From mobility support and economic empowerment to clean water, shelter, and environmental protection—over 10,000 trees planted—every initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable, community-led development.

100% Donation Policy

Malawi Relief Fund UK remains steadfast in its promise that 100% of donations go directly to aid, ensuring trust, transparency, and maximum impact.

This report is more than numbers—it is a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action.

May The Almighty accept every effort and every donation, and allow us to continue bringing relief, dignity, and lasting change to the people of Malawi.
